about
Recorded at home on the warmest day we've had in awhile. 2 guitar tracks, one lead vocal, one backup vocal, two mouth trumpet tracks, one bass track. I used GarageBand software. This is song #4 in the 52 weeks project inspired by Stephen Poff. The goal is to record a song a week for 2014.
lyrics
Lullaby for the First-World Husband
Go to sleep
Now my love
I will wait for you
The sheets are changed
they’re cold and crisp
and all I need is you.
You can go to sleep
“Rome wasn’t built in a day”
Neither was the world (tired world)
But it was good, very good, each day
Turn off the screen
Now my love
And I will glow for you
The room is dark
the cars are cold
and all I want is you
You can go to sleep
The caffeine’s bound to wane
and I can hold your hand in mine
as we sleep ‘til the morning’s dew
Everything is sad at night
when the math
no longer works
So go to sleep
and the path will clear
in the light of the morning’s dew
You must go to sleep
“Rome wasn’t built in a day”
Neither was our love, my love
But it's good, very good, each day
It is good, very good, each day
